After stints in Amsterdam, Paris, Berlin, Copenhagen and Bergen; Marlo Saalmink settled on a calm, internationally oriented atelier in Twente, Holland, for visual culture, art curation and editorial projects. Whilst maintaining a small Paris bureau, the studio works on diverse projects within architecture, art and fashion. The applied rhetoric often revolves around creative writing, a dialogue between in- and exterior and conversations on (sub) culture.
Next to operating as the senior editor for Fucking Young! and REVS Magazine, Marlo continuously embarks on a range of creative direction projects. This has led to an eclectic mix of interactions with: The National Design & Craft Gallery Ireland, Ugo Rondinone, Bunka University Tokyo, Barena Venezia, Wallpaper, The Scandinavian Academy of Fashion, Adidas Originals, Frama CPH, Some/things gallery, Polimoda and others. Each narrated project is unique, bringing forth visual and written content; all purposefully logged in the understated atelier.
From a dissection of Analog- Catalog and Dialog, with a strong contemporary foundation, the atelier likes to connect innovative museums, publications, artists, institutes and avant-garde thinkers. The technical approach consists of editing, art direction, curation, concept & identity development. Conducting extensive research serves as an important foundation for all creative processes that are initiated. To Marlo it is important to work in a sincere, deliberate, well informed and constructive manner. This blend of communication, (counter) culture and curatorial assignments, perpetuates a most dynamic yet humble sense of place.
